Rotterdam Building

Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Right in the heart of Rotterdam city center, a new future for Rotterdam Building is underway. Its transformation forecasts a flexible and versatile co-working and multitenant office space. Rotterdam Building will be an entrepreneurial and inviting living room for the city in an iconic office building, originally designed by Kraaijvanger Architects in 1976. C Concept Design helped collaborate by supplying architecture design and branding development, reshaping the former space. The building will provide various amenities for both tenants and visitors to be social, efficient, productive, and innovative in today’s work environment. It is a place for social interaction, work, meetings, events, or perhaps just a coffee. From the food hall, Club Nomad, on the ground floor, to the sky bar on the roof, Rotterdam Building welcomes you into this new wave of work-life balance.

  • The transformation is seen to embrace the buzz of the location. Not only is it within walking distance to the city center —ergo highly accessible by public transport— but Rotterdam Building also offers great parking options. This renovation project likewise focuses on sustainability by optimizing the existing building with an adaptive reuse strategy.

  • The office spaces will offer a dynamic and energetic atmosphere where tenants can engage in productive interactions and cultivate connections. Rotterdam Building will become a central hub for professionals in the city, and will contribute to the vibrant ambience, flexibility and dynamic work life throughout for both the tenants and the larger building.

  • Developer, Ballast Nedam Development is being resourceful with raw materials and natural resources to avoid unnecessary carbon dioxide and nitrogen emissions in the redevelopment of Rotterdam Building. The preservation of several architectural elements, for instance the conscious choice to keep concrete columns in the building exposed, is highlighted in Rotterdam Building’s vision on adaptive re-use and regeneration. Instead of removing the original facade, our plan is to embrace and improve the original with a unique paint color that is exclusive to Rotterdam Building.
